Shanghai International Maritime Forum 2007 was held on November 7th and 8th, 2007 in Shanghai of China. The 2007 forum was hosted by China MSA and undertaken by Shanghai MSA. Shanghai International Maritime Forum enhanced the international exchanges and cooperation in maritime environment protection policy, technology and experiences, which can be taken as an important reference in theory and practice for establishing and promoting the ship-source oil pollution compensation regime suitable to Chinese practices. In addition, it was also a showcase to the world that China MSA is committing herself to protecting maritime environment.

"Global Focus on the Oil Transportation and Marine Environment Protection" was the topic of the Forum 2007. Discussions and exchanges were covered the four sub-topics such as "High Quality Management on Anti-pollution of Oil Transportation", "The Status Quo and Development of International Convention Implementation on Anti-pollution", "Pivotal Problems and Technology of Contingency Management on Marine Grave Pollution", and "The Legal and Technical Questions on Compensation of Marine Pollution Damage". The guests from home and overseas, including the experts from the Ministry of Communication of P.R.China, IMO,China MSA, U.S. Coast Guard, World Maritime University, COSCO, INTERTANKO, OCIMF, BMT Group Ltd., IOPC Funds, UK P&I and so on, were invited to attend this forum and present their theses.

2007 Shanghai Forum

Chen Keyu and Kuang Shilin from CMS were also invited to attend the 2007 Forum. At the break time of Shanghai International Maritime Forum 2007, Mr. John Noble who is the Development Director of BMT Group Ltd. visited CMS Shanghai Office. He introduced the BMT business to CMS and discussed constructively on the future cooperation issues with CMS.
