On behalf of the Supreme Court, Judge Hu Jun from Haikou Maritime Courtand Judge Yang Din from Beihai Maritime Court visited CMS Shanghai Branch on October 22nd, 2013. Ms. Kuang Shiling, Ms. Wang Meng, Mr.Han Ke and Mr. Gu Zhengzhong from CMS attended the meeting.
During the meeting，Mr.Han Keand Mr. Gu Zhengzhong introduced the business of CMS to the judges, and then made a speech on several legal disputes regarding the compensation for oil pollution damages from vessels including some typical cases.
Both parties in great depth exchanged and discussed the ideas on how to understand and apply the relevant domestic laws, regulations and international conventions, particularly the Supreme Court’s Rules on the Certain Issues with respect to the Trial of Cases of Disputes on Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage from Vessels, which entered into force on July 1st , 2011.
CMS, as one of the training centers of “Maritime trial & Maritime Practice Training Courses”, which are jointly organized by the Supreme Court and China Maritime Safety Administration, has received judges from different Maritime Courts for three years.
